You bought the hot tub. I build the part that gets you into it.

Decks, steps, and railings built around your spa, so the walk out there is easy in the dark and steady on the way back in.

Insured, permitted when it needs to be, and built by the person who quoted it.

What I build

One thing, done properly

A hot tub on a bare concrete pad is a step up, a step down, and a wet walk in between. The deck is what turns it into something you actually use on a Tuesday in February. Sloped yards, raised decks, tight access, an odd tub in an odd corner: the awkward ones are the ones worth calling me about. If a design needs an engineer or another trade, I bring them in.

Decks and surrounds

The platform around and up to the spa, framed and surfaced so the height works with the tub you already own.

Steps and handrails

Even risers the whole way up, and a rail you can actually grip. This is the part most people call me about second and wish they had called about first.

Privacy screens

Slatted screens and windbreaks, sized to block the neighbor's upstairs window without turning the yard into a box.

Skirting and access panels

Finished sides that hide the equipment bay but still come off in one piece when the tub needs service. Service access is designed in, not discovered later.

Shade and cover structures

Pergolas and shade over the tub, framed to stand up to a Washington County summer and the wind that comes with it.

Repairs and rebuilds

Soft boards, a rail that moves when you lean on it, steps that were never right. If it is worth saving I will tell you so, and if it is not I will tell you that too.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises

I come look at it

No charge. I measure, I look at where the tub sits, and I ask how you plan to use it. Bring me your questions. This is the part where you find out whether you like working with me.

You get a written price and a written scope

One document that says exactly what I am building and exactly what it costs. What is not on that page is not in the price, and I will walk you through both halves before you sign anything.

We pull the permit, if yours needs one

Not every deck does. Plenty of ground-level ones do not, and I will tell you which yours is instead of charging you for paperwork you do not need. When it does need a permit, we pull it and the city inspects the work. That adds a little time up front, and it is the difference between a deck that is documented and one that becomes your problem when you sell the house.

I build it, and you see me doing it

I am on your job, not managing it from a truck across town. When it is done, it gets inspected, and you get the paperwork.

What's included

What I do, and what I don't

Most of the trouble in this trade comes from the second list going unsaid until somebody is upset. So here it is first, in writing, before you ever call me.

I build

  • The deck, platform, and framing around your spa
  • Steps, guardrails, and handrails built to code
  • Privacy screens, skirting, shade structures
  • Removable access panels to your equipment bay
  • The building permit when your deck needs one, and the inspections that come with it
  • Electrical for the spa and the deck lighting, run by a licensed electrician I bring in and oversee
  • Plumbing, gas, and heating and cooling when a project calls for it, the same way
  • An engineer when the design needs one, so the hard ones still get built
  • Haul-off of the old deck when there is one

I don't touch

  • The concrete under your tub. The pad is poured before I get there, by someone else. My structure carries the deck. It does not carry the spa, unless we design it that way on purpose and have an engineer sign off.
  • The spa itself. Delivery, setting, filling, startup, chemicals, covers, or warranty work. That stays between you and your spa dealer.
  • Vouching for what was already here. I stand behind the new work my crew and I install. The wiring, plumbing, and pad that were in your yard before I showed up are not something I test or certify. If I tie new work into an old panel, that is not me signing off that the old panel is good.

The trades I do not do myself, I hire, oversee, and answer for. You sign one contract, with me. What I cannot answer for is the spa you bought and whatever was already in your yard before I started, so that stays with the people who put it there. All of it is written into the contract, so nobody is guessing later.

About

Hi, I'm Dusty

I build decks around hot tubs in Washington County. It is not the only thing I can build. It is the thing I do all week, and it is the thing I am best at.

Most of my customers are people who moved down here to enjoy the weather and bought a hot tub to go with it. They are not looking for a construction project. They are looking for the thing to be finished, done right, and easy to get in and out of at nine o'clock at night. That is what I build for.

Send it over and I will get back to you. If it is easier to just talk it through, call me. You will get me, not an answering service.

Before you call

It helps if you know the make and model of your hot tub and whether it is already sitting on its pad. If you do not, that is fine. I will figure it out when I come look.

The tub you have, where it sits, and what you are hoping for. As much or as little as you like.
